Arthur L. “Jack” Reid, Jr., 85, passed away Thursday at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.



Jack was born in High Point, April 6, 1931, a son of the late Arthur L. Reid and Annie Helms Reid. He was an Army veteran of Korea and a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veteran. Jack retired from the furniture business and was a member of Our Lady of the Highway Catholic Church. He enjoyed baking cakes for his family and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his sister,...

Arthur L. “Jack” Reid, Jr., 85, passed away Thursday at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.



Jack was born in High Point, April 6, 1931, a son of the late Arthur L. Reid and Annie Helms Reid. He was an Army veteran of Korea and a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veteran. Jack retired from the furniture business and was a member of Our Lady of the Highway Catholic Church. He enjoyed baking cakes for his family and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Deatherage and brother in law, Jim Deatherage and a special cousin, Phillip Van Mowery.



Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Barbara Helmstetler Reid; three daughters, Dr. Sharon L. Reid, Andrea Willis and husband Jody and Laura Cole and son in law Blake Cole; grandchildren, Brandon Cole, Asa Jacob Willis, Brooke Cole Weishner and husband Kevin and Amanda Cole.



A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by Reverend James Turner, O.S.F.S. The family will receive friends following the service until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff of French Country at Pennybyrn at Maryfield for their care and kindness to Jack and his family.
